Homeless Sex

Homeless sex.

It’s not so different than prison sex: You really don’t want to talk about it.  There’s kind of a grit in the nasty that turns erotic ecstasy into mortified disgust.  Guys I know don’t cruise around Tent City looking for love!  And it is easy to look down your nose on the homeless – especially if we are talking about sex.  Just imagine sharing a sleeping bag, a baggie of dope, and raw body heat with someone who is missing several teeth, a toothbrush, and a shower, and you are about there.

Do I have your contempt yet?

But really, there is every reason to believe that is about the speed of our love.  If you are getting your jollies on the internet, porno mags, or prostitutes, then you aren’t getting your sex at home.  Home is where godly sex belongs.

Hey, I grew up in this society!  I am a red-blooded, American male.  I have stumbled into many of those exact dark places myself.  And with the life-force of libido, or sexual energy, coursing through my body (just like most of my friends and family), I am susceptible to all the same temptations as the next guy.  So, I know this stuff first hand just like you.

When God first made humanity, he made them male and female in the image of God (Gen. 1:27).  This is THE image of God – the human male coupled in trusting vulnerable love with the human female.  This is God, full-frontal!  You cannot see God and live (Exod. 33:20; I Tim. 6:16).  The image of God has everything to do with Kingdom Rule and world order (Gen. 1:26-28) and makes mountains bow down, valleys stand at attention, and crooked/rough places straighten/smooth out (Isa. 40:3-5).

That is image bearing sex!  That is sex that moves mountains!  That is sex at HOME amid trust and vulnerablility.  And it is not even a temptation.

Sad.  That is the sex we have been missing as we ran to any dark alley to spread our disease, mistrust, betrayal, and cheep thrills.

I have an idea that I need to explore sex at HOME a bit more… perhaps post on it.
