Count Me Out Of Your Two-Faced “Christianity”

Yeah.  I keep digging in my heels about mistreatment of the poor by the “Church”.  It’s so blatantly, ridiculous as to be embarrassing, really.  To speak of being staunchly biblical out of one side of your face only to turn the poor out into the night with the other.

Hey, this isn’t really a matter of ironing out a few complexities and fine points of doctrine.  No.  This is simple stuff.  Hard, maybe, but simple – AND important.

But you know what?

The “Church” by-n-large is also waaaaaay to easily seduced by the “Two Corinthians” quoting, unrepentant “pussy”-grabber!  If Bill Clinton was guilty of that, the “Church” would be up in arms, and Ken Starr would be back in a heartbeat!  But somehow a narcissist opportunist the “Church” claims as champion spews racist and poor-people hating rhetoric about “Shithole countries”, and the “Church” rushes to his defense?

Really.  Check it out here:

Surely his “Church” is waaaaaaay to shallowly two-faced to be taken seriously as representing God.  If this is the company we are keeping, if these are the values we uphold, then we surely cannot be the Body of Christ I read about in the Bible.  We are a counterfeit.  A cruel joke at best.

It’s no wonder I go ignored by this bunch as much as possible.

Perhaps Matthew 7:21-23 will keep you up tonight!

Matthew 7:21-23 English Standard Version (ESV)

I Never Knew You

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

I cannot for the life of me understand how this man continues to have the respect of so many Americans, let alone so many so-called Christians. God, I pray for this country’s president, that you would open his eyes, along with those of so many others who claim you as their Savior, to see that you stand for love of all peoples of all countries. Forgive us our trespasses. Amen.

I cannot give you and explanation, but I can offer an observation that sheds some light on this. Just some, but hey… better than just darkness…

Michael Moore is credited with correctly predicting the outcome of the election when practically every pole and pundit was showed up as clueless. He could not get the Clinton people to take him seriously before hand, but he saw it coming and had some insight into how/why.

He is from Michigan and had his finger on the local pulse there and perhaps in a fair bit of the rust belt. And he said there were a lot of voters who are so deeply disenfranchised with the system and the economy – proud, working, Americans with a rich heritage – and they find the system so deeply damaged and themselves sinking so deep into debt and problems while congress just languishes and never delivers whether Dems or Reps. A lot of these people do not LIKE Trump or what he stands for, but they see him as a political grenade they can throw into the mix. They have nothing more to lose, and so if they can burn the place down as they go down, then it is worth it.

I hate to say it, but I can sympathize with that. I don’t swallow every morsel Michael Moore pedals, but he did see it coming, and this was his insight. That says something. And if he is right, I have sympathy with that.

BTW, my sympathy is not my better Christian judgment at all. But it is still my sympathy. Not siding with that opinion or that method in the slightest. But I can feel that kind of scorn in the atmosphere, and I have to admit, Trump is a grenade! And it is burning down! MAYBE, MAYBE, MAYBE this will wake up our better angels in both parties and bring us to a new place together. I don’t have a lot of hope for it, but I will say this: We are not on the same old path anymore. Something HAS given here. And we will see if we can make something positive out of it or if it will all just burn baby burn.

From the day he won the election, I have heard the same explanation that you give, and I agree, to some degree at least, that that is what happened. I myself have often felt disenfranchised over the course of my life. But many days and many tweets have come and gone since then. His hatred and mental instability are so obvious. As often as I have felt like I don’t belong in America (about as disenfranchised as one can feel), I would never have thrown the entire country under the bus as so many seem to have done. Surely by now they understand that he has no interest in helping them.

I don’t have any answers. That’s why I keep praying for him and everyone else.

As much as Trump is an idiot, do you really think the alternative would have been better: that we could have had a double-down on the Obama failures? Yes, I know: Trump can’t open his mouth without insulting someone, elevating himself. However, examine all the untold lies of our pal, Hillary. She lost the election because she made a major shit in her politics toward the extreme left of LGBT, the abortionists and the socialist. She is and was anti white male and the democrats haven’t caught on yet. In many cases our Trump idiot simply says what others say in closed circles. It’s about the same as saying the word N*gger or N*ggar. only members of color get away with that.

      Thanx for your response.

I edited your comment a bit, which I normally don’t like to do, but let me explain.

First off… Your opinion and thoughts are welcome here. In fact, I am grateful for all that. I want your honest debate, not a sycophant response.

In the past, I would have probably filtered out the word “shit” too. Not that I am up in arms over it, but being a Christian blog and seeking Christians to read and care here, that kind of spice puts me in an uphill battle. I have enough of those already. But, ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN among others all ran the story featuring the word on the lips of our president last week, so apparently it’s cool now. Or at least I would be a prude for editing it out now. But that is just an observation. I don’t really care that much. I have already expended more energy talking about it than it is worth.

However, your use of “the N-word” is just too hot for this blogger to handle. Especially since I am a white boy and so are you. That word only spells trouble to people like us. It’s not fair, not right, but it is what it is. And besides, the damage it has done to black people for eons wasn’t fair either. So, there is something almost fair about the unfairness getting around.

Anyway, I hope your point is still made legitimately enough with my editing of your comment.

Now, in response to the substance of your comment…

Let me respond to this opening remark:

“As much as Trump is an idiot, do you really think the alternative would have been better…”

First off, I never called Trump an idiot. You might have read my mind, but I never called him that. AND to be fair and honest, I pray for him daily. I am not a shear hater. I have seen brief moments when he acted with dignity and grace that I found good. I keep hoping for more, but after a year, that seems quite doubtful.

Secondly, as to the “alternative” YES, I like the alternative a lot better. But I don’t think you and I have the same alternative in mind.

I am interested in Lord Jesus running the world. As for Hillary, I didn’t like her either. I thought the election last year did a fine job of digging down to the very worst two options from the whole pool of options. We might quibble whether Trump or Clinton were the worst possible choice, but I think we would agree (esp. since you call Trump and idiot) that they both were terrible.

My post here certainly is critical of Trump, but that is not the real target of my concern. Look again carefully. I am not making the usual Trump bashing complaint. I am upset that the “church” seems to be on her knees giving this guy oral gratification! We, the “church” are this guy’s whore! We the “church” are this guy’s bitch! I have a problem more with that than with him being president.

The world has survived idiot leaders for centuries. Look at Caligula or Nero! But the “church”, the same group of people I worship with Sunday in and Sunday out is defending, supporting, and slobbing this guy! We are supposed to be the Bride of Christ!

And I note that when we took a notion to hate on Bill Clinton, we sent in Ken Starr (who is actually from my denomination no less) to attack and attack and attack for the sexual side show Bill was running with a consenting adult (tawdry and distasteful though it was). But now the church defends this unrepentant “pussy”grabber and race hater??? Look. There are a lot of guys doing that. And in days of old, that kind of crap used to get called SIN by the pastors who now give this guy a pass for it.

Shame on Trump… sure. But no more there than any other like him. But double shame on the “church” for endorsing this crap.

And underneath all that, I find that I can’t get the “church” to care for the poor! And it dawns on me that since we endorse Trump, the way we do, my problem with the “church” is both far deeper and more pervasive than I was thinking to begin with!

Anyway, I hope that clears up my post a bit.

God bless you, and thanx for reading and commenting.
