ABBIE AND NORM (A BLUES SONG)

Normally, under normal circumstances, I wouldn’t explain the difference between normality and normalcy.  At least, that is the norm.

 

Frankly speaking, it was being frank with other people that got me stuck in the psych unit.

 

It is a universal truth that you come, universally, to know the universe as you study at the university.  But you cannot reliably rely upon that reliability until you utilize “use” appropriately in a sentence which is appropriate.  But keep in mind that you cannot use “utilize” ever.  Except when you are never saying never, in which the double negative becomes a positive with compound interest.

 

Now, and I am only saying this because really – I care, if you think you can make me your personal slave by threatening me… well… that’s where you’re right, but there are many decaf brands on the market that are just as good as the real thing.

 

To everyone else, I simply say, I am really, really sorry.  I apologize unreservedly.  The imputation was totally without basis in fact, was motivated purely by malice, and I deeply regret any distress which my comments may have caused you (or your family), and I hereby undertake to never repeat any such slander at any time in the future!

Have you ever “encountered” a bum on the streets who seems to have “gone off his [or her] meds”?  Maybe sit and listen a moment to the “nonsense” and realize that person is talking to people you don’t see?

 

Well, except for the names and a few other changes, if you talk about this blog, the story’s the same one.

 

What do you do with such a person when you find them?  This is really going to interrupt your day, right?  I mean, unless you are a cop or an EMT whose job it is AMONG OTHER THINGS to handle such calls, you are faced with a stark choice.  Ignore the problem and hope someone else deals with it, or your INVOLVEMENT is going to get bogged down quickly.

But who said your life is your own?  Who really is your MASTER?  You?  You American citizen???  Or is your citizenship (in the year of election) in heaven???  And if so, then who really is your Master?  And then is this a “divine appointment” you have just kept or not?

 

Are you your brother’s keeper?  Cain was not.  Are you???

Sounds almost crazy, I know.

 

Not the norm you expect when you wake up on a Tuesday morning… pandemic or otherwise.

    You can only do so much. It seems like our society should be able to use tax money to provide care for persons who are delusional as in your 2015 post (and in the early 1970’s I visited a state hospital where such residential care was given). Now it seems that unless a person in such a condition has insurance, it is very difficult for them to be admitted to a facility for care. Our society in many ways seems less kind now to those with mental problems. The answer is for people to follow Christ’s teachings about caring for the poor as you have been advocating. Thank you for your thoughts and advocacy for the poor and disadvantaged.
